Ediz has recently purchased a state of the art Cone Beam CT Scanner (CBCT). This provides high resolution images of patient’s anatomy to allow precise diagnosis and treatment planning for any surgical procedures such as root canal surgery, wisdom teeth removal and dental implant treatment.
Compared to conventional dental x-rays which are two dimensional, CBCT scanners will provide a more accurate three dimensional image with far lower radiation dose than conventional hospital CT scanners. The patient does not need to be lying down, and typically the scan takes 12 seconds to do.
CBCT Scanner Benefits:
• Dental implants: The imaging software allows much better implant position planning and visualisation of the nerve in the lower jaw.
• Wisdom teeth extraction: An accurate image of partially buried wisdom teeth can be assessed and their position to vital structures
• Root canal treatment: Assessment of root canal anatomy and positon of extra root canals and any associated root canal pathology such as cysts can be analysed.
At Clifton Down Dental Practice, we receive referrals from other dental surgeries to conduct any CBCT investigations. If deemed necessary, they are reported by a consultant Radiologist.
